Macmillan
Wow! £716.73 raised with our Macmillan Coffee Morning. Thank you everyone for such fantastic support.
Macmillan success!
A very big thank you to all Who came, made a donation or brought cakes for our coffee morning. Thank you to Mrs Deverill and the Learning Squad for organising such a fantastic event. We're very proud of our children! We'll let you know how much was raised very soon.
Catch Up
Thank you to Mrs Thomas and Mrs Thorne for the work they complete for Catch Up Literacy and Numeracy. The children make excellent progress thanks to their hard work and dedicaiton to the children and the school. As a result, the school has been awarded the Catch Up Gold Award!
Thanks x
School values
Thank you to all of you for helping us choose the values we will focus on as a school. The response was overwhelming!
As you know, this half term's value is 'RESPECT.' Everything we do in class has revolved around this value including feedback on the school yard and in the corridors.
We'd like to involve parents further by inviting you to nominate your child for demonstrating an act of respect at home: to others, themselves, property, animals, their home etc.
Teachers have put a pocket of slips that can be completed by their doors. Please ask your teacher for one of these. We have received some wonderful nominations from some classes already.
We will reward the nominated pupils in school and share their act of respect with the class and the school.

Break time fun!
It was an absolute please to be on the yard this morning. I saw very fair play and respect for others shown by year 4 boys and we enjoyed revealing vegetables in our garden. 😀

WELCOME BACK!
Welcome back to Coedpenmaen Primary after the Summer break. It is lovely to see all the children smart
and ready to learn with their new classes and teachers. As ever, this term will be busy with the
children taking part in a number of activities linked to themes being studied
in their classes. We will endeavour to
inform parents as soon as possible with regard to school excursions. The diary dates are included below as they
stand at the moment. Please remember to keep checking the Moodle for any
updates to the school diary.
Community Governor
As you may be aware, the school’s Governing Body has a vacancy for a ‘Community Governor’. This governor is a person who ‘lives or works in the community served by the school’ and ‘in the opinion of the Governing Body are committed to the good government and success of the school’. If you know of any persons who may be interested in applying for this post, application forms are available from the school’s office. Please note, this is a different process to ‘Parent Governors’.

WG Test dates
The Welsh Government Tests for all pupils in Years 2, 3, 4, 5 and
6 are between 3rd - 10th May 2016. Please avoid taken any absences during this
time.In line with Welsh Government and Local Authority priorities for schools, attendance must remain an important target this year. The usual awards and certificates will be presented to pupils. There will also be the regular 100% days, where the
winning class will be awarded with a Friday afternoon treat. The first of the 100% days are 1st
and 2nd October (Classes are challenged to achieve 100% attendance
for the 2 days). The school appreciates the support of families to encourage
excellent attendance at all times, and especially during our 100% days. Please note: if your child is genuinely ill,
they should not attend school - it remains the responsibility of parents to
inform the school on the first day of absence if a child is not well enough to
