ST DAVID'S DAY - DYDD GWYL DEWI

Dear Parent / Carer

ST DAVID’S DAY/ DYDD GWYL DEWI – EISTEDDFOD

You will be aware that next Tuesday we will be celebrating St David’s Day at school.  The children are welcome to wear Welsh costumes and will take part in a number of competitions – writing, art, music etc.  Each child is in a ‘house’ with a cup awarded to the winning house.  We will also be ‘Chairing the Bard’, for the person in Year 6 who completes some outstanding creative writing.

This year, we would like to add to the sense of occasion by including a ‘Welsh Cake’ sale.  We would be grateful, therefore, for donations of Welsh cakes which the children will then be able to enjoy by bringing in a small donation which will be forwarded to Bobath Cymru, a Welsh charity which provides specialist physiotherapy, occupational therapy and speech and language therapy to children all over Wales who have cerebral palsy.

Thank you for your continued support of the school and I am sure the children will have a fun-filled St David’s Day.

Yours

Mrs J Loveridge

Headteacher

PARENTS' GUIDE TO DIGITAL LITERACY

Use the link below:

for information on Digital Literacy from Wise Kids.

Proud to share good practice: Film in literacy.

I was proud to share good practice of using film as a stimulus and inspiration for literacy skills with staff from all cluster schools  of Hawthorn High School today.
I had the opportunity to share high quality work as a result of class work and Film Club work. We all visited other schools' workshops also: a rewarding day.
Thank you to the teachers and children involved!
Mrs Pugh. 😊

Safer Internet Day 2016

Great session with Sangeet from WiseKids.  Thanks to everyone who came to learn more about how we can help the children keep safe online

WORLD BOOK DAY 2016

We will be celebrating World book day on Thursday 3rd March this year. Our Comic Club are in charge of planning the day and have already presented their ideas to the whole school. They have also organised tasks for each class which have been voted by the children.
The theme is:  COMIC STRIPS - your child/children may dress up (if they wish) as a comic strip character or any other book character. If possible, could they bring the book or comic that matches their outfit.
The purpose of this day is to encourage a love of reading and the world of books. Teachers will be planning lots of fun book related activities and may even dress up themselves!
I’ll hand you over to Comic Club to announce their competition. Many Thanks, Mrs Pugh.
